2026 Borgerding Family Reunion

Date: July 2-4, 2026

Location: Red Lodge, Montana

Please join us July 2-4, 2026 for fun, food and laughter in Red Lodge, Montana, a beautiful mountain town in the shadow of the majestic Beartooth Mountains. Red Lodge is home to Sarah (daughter of Roman Borgerding) and Bo Ewald who have graciously offered to act as hosts for Borgerding Reunion 2026.

We’ll reconnect and share memories and stories of the previous generations while getting to know the younger generations who will keep the stories and memories alive. Come prepared to share your favorite memory or story of the special Borgerdings in your life. (See photo request below.)

The only rule, per Sarah and Bo, is that you make yourselves at home on their property! We’ve listed times for activities below so that everyone knows when things are happening but they really want everyone to come and go as they wish and take full advantage of their beautiful property and home and the myriad of outdoor activities the area offers.

Schedule of Reunion Activities

  • Thur Jul 2nd: Meet, Greet & Mingle at Sarah & Bo’s House
  • Fri Jul 3rd: Barbeque, Brews & Bonding at Sarah & Bo’s
  • Sat Jul 4th: Fourth of July Parade in Red Lodge
  • Sat Jul 4th: Picnic at Airport Hangar

4 pm: Meet, Greet & Mingle at Sarah and Bo’s House, 8 Franklin Lane

Thur Jul 2nd

Our first official gathering will be at Sarah’s and Bo’s home and lawn.   Enjoy yard games, head out for a walk, find a quiet spot and take in the natural beauty of their property. Beverages begin flowing at 4; casual catered meal at 6. At dusk, we’ll head creekside for a Spiritual Service, Borgerding stories and a bonfire (if permitted).

2-10 pm: Barbeque, Brews & Bonding at Sarah & Bo’s

Fri Jul 3rd

Enjoy the wonderful amenities at Sarah’s and Bo’s: the yard, the creek, the sundecks, nearby hiking trails. Meet there and head out for a group activity–hiking, biking, exploring town, so many possibilities. Or just hang out and relax and visit with family. Don’t miss the barbeque dinner at 6. And always, yard games, family fun and frosty beverages abound!

High noon: Red Lodge Fourth of July Parade

Sat Jul 4th

Be part of Red Lodge’s most popular community event by helping to carry the American flag in the 4th of July Parade. But this isn’t just any flag—this epic flag requires several dozen carriers! Sarah, as Executive Director of the Red Lodge Fire & Rescue Foundation, leads the effort to carry it unfurled along Main Street’s mile-long parade route. All Borgerdings—young and old—are invited to participate in this festive and patriotic event. Dress in your favorite red, white and blue garb and honor the many Borgerding family members who have fought to preserve our freedoms!

Don’t want to walk or carry the flag? No worries, find a spot along the route to watch the festivities—especially the exciting flyover by Bo and a Borgerding! (We’ll draw a name from the Friday barbeque attendees to see which lucky sucker gets to accompany Bo in his vintage WW2 plane during the parade flyover!)

2 pm: Picnic at the Hangar, Red Lodge Airport, 1 N Airport Rd.

SAT Jul 4th

After the parade, we’ll gather at Ewald’s hangar. Bring a picnic meal for your group. Tables, chairs and drinks provided. Enjoy plane rides (weather permitting), the Borgerding slideshow, vintage planes and cars, and more. Watch fireworks at dusk from the hangar deck and/or other spots around town.
